CSTO Joint Staff holds talks on preparations for joint exercises in 2022
The first staff talks on the organization and conduct of joint exercises with CSTO troops (Collective Force) planned for 2022 were held on April 26–28 at the CSTO Joint Staff.
According to the official website of the Collective Security Treaty Organization, representatives of relevant ministries and agencies from the Republic of Armenia, Republic of Belarus, Republic of Kazakhstan, Kyrgyz Republic, Russian Federation, Republic of Tajikistan and the CSTO Secretariat took part in the talks led by Lieutenant General Hasan Kaloyev, first deputy Chief of the CSTO Joint Staff.
The talks reviewed and discussed basic concepts of the joint exercise, the composition of the command structures and troops involved in the exercise and the procedure governing the participation of invited contingents and observers in the joint events.
A range of activities are planned within the framework of the operational and strategic exercise Combat Brotherhood 2022.
During the strategic command and staff exercise, the Organization’s Crisis Response Centre, led by the Chief of the CSTO Joint Staff and working together with the operational groups of the relevant ministries and departments, will be examining in detail the factors affecting the state of collective security, forecasting the development of the military, political and strategic situation and defining the probability and measures for the resolution of crisis situations.
Exercises are planned in Republic of Kazakhstan to combine the training of the various components of the CSTO troops (Collective Force): a command and staff exercise with the CSTO Collective Rapid Reaction Force Vzaimodeistvie 2022, a special exercise Poisk 2022 with the reconnaissance force and Echelon 2022, a special exercise with the forces and logistical assets of the CSTO troops (Collective Force).
A joint exercise with the Rapid Deployment Force units of the Central Asian region, Rubezh 2022, was planned in the Republic of Tajikistan in order to practise the use of the forces and assets of the CSTO collective security system to counter international terrorist organizations.
At the final stage of Combat Brotherhood 2022, an operational and strategic exercise in the Kyrgyz Republic, Unbreakable Brotherhood 2022, a command and staff exercise with the CSTO peacekeeping forces, is planned, to practice post-conflict resolution in the crisis zone and the conduct of a peacekeeping operation.
