On January 14, 1944 during the liberation of Pskov an 18-year-old girl Aliya Moldagulova, being under a barrage of fire, six times raised her comrades to fight, then was wounded and died.
Aliya only lived for 18 years, but there was so much courage and bravery in her that she became the personification of military valor of the Kazakh people.
Schools, settlements, and streets are named in her honor, and the memory of the brave girl lives on throughout Kazakhstan and Russia. There are museums and monuments in Astana, Moscow, St. Petersburg, and other major cities, and her homeland has a memorial complex.
As you may recall, on January 1, 2024 the Republic of Kazakhstan became Chair of the Collective Security Treaty Organization.
