The Importance of Forming a Unified Legal Contour of the CSTO Noted at the Conference in Dushanbe
Dushanbe is hosting an international parliamentary conference dedicated to the 30th anniversary of the Constitution of Tajikistan.
The conference is held on the initiative of the Majlisi Namoyandagon of the Majlisi Oli of the Republic of Tajikistan together with Majlisi Milli of the Majlisi Oli of the Republic of Tajikistan, involving heads of parliaments of more than 11 states.
The work of the conference is held in four sectors in different halls of the new building of the Parliament of Tajikistan.
Speaking at the conference, Sergei Pospelov, Executive Secretary of the CSTO Parliamentary Assembly, praised many years of creative and selfless work of Emomali Rahmon, President of the Republic of Tajikistan, who "along with the political will and wisdom of the heads of the friendly countries forms legal foundations and ensures efficient activity of the CSTO and its Parliamentary Assembly, or, in other words, provides the basis of the regional contour of collective security and cooperation”.
Sergei Pospelov also emphasized that Tajikistan's borders have been and still remain the front line of a hard and sometimes bloody fight in line with the UN strategy against international terrorism, as well as other manifestations of extremism, separatism and cross-border crime.
“The longstanding efforts of the deeply respected President and the Parliament of Tajikistan continue to bear fruit on this path. The CSTO Secretary General announced plans of the heads of the CSTO Member States to approve the CSTO Program on strengthening the Tajik-Afghan border by the end of this year,” Sergei Pospelov said.
The CSTO PA Executive Secretary also shared his expectations from the cooperation of the Parliamentary Assembly Secretariat with the leading universities of the Organization's Member States.
He pointed out that the previous day, on October 10, cooperation agreements were signed with the Tajik National University, the Russian-Tajik (Slavonic) University, the Academy of Public Administration under the President of the Republic of Tajikistan and the Center for Strategic Research under the President of Tajikistan. Earlier such agreements were concluded with several Belarusian and Kyrgyz universities.
