Viktor Khrenin: the CSTO is Under Unprecedented Pressure
On March 1, Viktor Khrenin, Minister of Defence of the Republic of Belarus, spoke in Minsk at a meeting of heads of international military cooperation units of the armed forces of the CSTO Member States. He said that Belarus views the CSTO as a guarantor of international and regional security.
Moreover, the Minister of Defence noted that recently the Organization has faced unprecedented pressure.
“There is pressure not only on the Russian Federation and the Republic of Belarus. Almost all countries of the Collective Security Treaty Organization are subject to unprecedented pressure, and it is done in different areas and ways,” said Oleg Belokonev, Chairman of the Standing Commission on National Security of the House of Representatives of the National Assembly, commenting on the Minister’s speech.
Mr Belokonev also stressed that it is now very important to consolidate both Belarus and Russia and all the CSTO states.
“As part of an adequate strategic response, we will carry out a set of measures that will allow us to preserve our sovereignty and territorial integrity,” concluded Oleg Belokonev.
In his speech, the Minister of Defence of the Republic of Belarus stressed the importance of developing common approaches aimed at the development and strengthening of the military component.
