Viktor Khrenin: Unity and solidarity are particularly important when international law is neglected
At the meeting of the Council of Ministers of Defence of the Collective Security Treaty Organization Member States, Lieutenant General Viktor Khrenin, Minister of Defence the Republic of Belarus, stressed the need to consolidate efforts of the Organization’s Member States in opposing the collective West.
According to BelTA, among the main challenges and threats Viktor Khrenin mentioned an armed conflict in the territory of Ukraine, which under certain circumstances can escalate into a regional war; strengthening of the offensive capability of NATO united armed force, which contributes to disturbing the existing balance of power in the region; and a large-scale Western hybrid aggression against Russia and Belarus.
“Summing up his speech on this topic, the head of the Belarusian military delegation emphasized: unity and solidarity of like-minded persons are especially important in the current conditions, when the norms and principles of international law are completely neglected; only through joint efforts can we repel the actions of the collective West and act as a reliable shield protecting national interests of the CSTO Member States,” reads the official report of the press service of the Belarusian Defence Ministry.
While discussing the CSTO peacekeeping operation in Kazakhstan, the Minister of Defence of the Republic of Belarus drew attention to the fact that the Belarusian side had launched gradual implementation of the Action Plan to realize the proposals made by the defence ministers of the CSTO Member States at the extraordinary session of the CSTO Defence Ministers Council on January 13, 2022.
Participants of the conference have reviewed and adopted the 2022–2024 Foreign Policy, Defence and Security Consultations Plan of Representatives of the Collective Security Treaty Organization Member States; considered the items on Joint Formation of the CSTO Radiation, Chemical and Biological Protection and Medical Support; Measures to Implement the CSTO Collective Security Council Decision of September 15, 2015 “On Organizing Management of the Collective Security Treaty Organization Troops (Collective Force).”
