On January 26, presidential elections will be held in the Republic of Belarus. A delegation of parliamentarians from the CSTO Member States is monitoring the preparation and holding of the elections.
Victoria Abramchenko, Coordinator of the monitoring mission from the CSTO Parliamentary Assembly and Deputy Chairman of the State Duma of the Federal Assembly of the Russian Federation, noted that the goal of monitoring is to ensure that the election process is transparent and objective.
“The participation of international observers emphasizes Belarus' commitment to follow democratic standards. It strengthens confidence in the voting results both among citizens and in the international arena. To me, this will be the first time observing an election of this scale. I am convinced that all procedures will be organized in strict compliance with the national legislation, and the voice of every citizen will be heard,” emphasized Victoria Abramchenko.
As you may recall, the presidential candidates are represented by Oleg Gaidukevich, leader of the Liberal Democratic Party of Belarus, Anna Kanopatskaya, individual entrepreneur, Aleksandr Lukashenko, current head of state, Sergei Syrankov, leader of the Communist Party of Belarus, and Oleksandr Khizhnyak, leader of the Republican Party of Labor and Justice.
