Vyacheslav Volodin: The Main Task is to Harmonize National Security Legislations
Speaking at the meeting of the Parliamentary Assembly in Moscow on December 9, Vyacheslav Volodin, Chairman of the CSTO Parliamentary Assembly and Chairman of the State Duma of the Federal Assembly of the Russian Federation, noted the importance of model acts adopted by the Assembly.
“A lot has been done on the way to the formation of a unified legal space. Eighty nine model acts have been adopted. Today we will discuss 8 more,” Mr. Volodin noted.
He especially thanked his colleagues from Kazakhstan for their efficient chairmanship in the CSTO and emphasized one of the priorities of the Kyrgyz Republic, which will chair the Organization in 2025, to continue the development of inter-parliamentary cooperation of the Organization, including work on the harmonization of legislation of Member States.
“In modern conditions, the demand for the formation of a sustainable security system in the interests of peaceful coexistence of all Eurasian states is increasing. Within the framework of the parliamentary dimension, we must make our contribution to this process,” emphasized the Chairman of the CSTO PA.
At the end of his speech, Vyacheslav Volodin focused attention on one of the main issues on today's agenda – the adoption of the Address to the Peoples of the Organization's Member States and Parliamentarians of the World in Connection with the 80th Anniversary of the Victory. He noted that “the protection of historical truth is our priority. It is our duty to those who cannot defend themselves today – our grandfathers and great-grandfathers”.
He pointed out that next year the citizens of the CSTO states will jointly celebrate the 80th anniversary of the Victory in the Great Patriotic War and invited the colleagues to take part in the International Forum of the Union State of Russia and Belarus, dedicated to the 80th anniversary of the Victory. It will be held next April in the Hero City of Volgograd.
