Volodin: Approximation of Biosafety Legislation Is Important for CSTO PA
At the CSTO PA Council session in Minsk, Vyacheslav Volodin, Chairman of the CSTO Parliamentary Assembly, outlined the CSTO PA’s main priorities: approximation of national legislation, protection of historical memory and development of measures to ensure biological security.
Mr Volodin noted the importance and timeliness of the decision to create a special body within the CSTO: a biosecurity coordination council.
“The Parliamentary Assembly has strengthened its work on legislative support of biological security of the CSTO Member States. Colleagues, please consider the ratification of the CSTO international treaties, including those concerning the addition of a new area of cooperation – biosecurity – to the Organization’s Charter. This issue has been agreed upon and adopted at the level of heads of state,” Vyacheslav Volodin said.
