There is no doubt whatsoever about the legality and justifiability of the CSTO peacekeeping forces’ presence in the territory of Kazakhstan; they have arrived there at the invitation of the President of the Republic and will leave it after accomplishing their mission. Jovan Palalić, deputy of the National Assembly of the Republic of Serbia, member of the permanent delegation of the Parliament of the Republic of Serbia to the Parliamentary Assembly of the Collective Security Treaty Organization, said this in an interview with Parlamentskaya gazeta.
Jovan Palalić particularly emphasized that through its concerted actions, which have led to the rapid stabilization of the situation in Kazakhstan, the CSTO has fully demonstrated the validity of its existence and its effectiveness.
According to Jovan Palalić (and as President of the Republic of Kazakhstan Kassym-Jomart Tokayev pointed out in his speech at the remote meeting of the Collective Security Council), the solidarity shown by all heads of CSTO Member States and their deep personal involvement in resolving the crisis were an important aspect.
This will certainly convince all Member States of the Organization that, should any crisis occur in the future, it will be dealt with just as effectively, coherently and in strict compliance with the Organization’s internal rules, Mr Palalić believes.
