Zhanar Akayev elected new Chairman of the Committee on International Affairs, Defence, Security and Migration of the Kyrgyz Parliament

Deputy Zhanar Akayev was elected Chairman of the Committee on International Affairs, Defence, Security and Migration of the Jogorku Kenesh of the Kyrgyz Republic. The decision was taken at a meeting on January 12, kenesh.kg reports.
The Jogorku Kenesh Committee, chaired by deputy Bakyt Torobayev, has considered the nominations, after which the matter was sent to the Parliament for consideration.
According to the structure adopted by the deputies on January 12, 2020, Jogorku Kenesh consists of 8 profile committees.
In the second vote, Zhanar Akayev received 62 votes, while his opponent, Tazabek Ikramov, received 20 votes.
As you may recall, the Chairman of the Committee on International Affairs, Defence, Security and Migration of the Jogorku Kenesh of the Kyrgyz Republic is a member of the Coordination Council of Chairpersons of Committees (Commissions) on Defence and Security of the Parliaments of the CSTO Member States under the Council of the Parliamentary Assembly of the Collective Security Treaty Organization.
