During the government hour in the State Duma on February 14, Sergei Lavrov, Russian Foreign Minister, said that the task of forming continental security in Eurasia is now pressing, and Russia is strengthening the potential of the Collective Security Treaty Organization (CSTO) together with its allies.
"Together with our allies, we are strengthening the potential of the CSTO as a key regional defensive structure responsible for ensuring the security of the Organization's Member States and for maintaining stability in Eurasia," Mr. Lavrov noted. "The task of forming a new architecture of continental security in the Eurasian area has become relevant, and an international conference convened at the initiative of Aleksandr Lukashenko [President of Belarus] in Minsk in October 2023 was dedicated to this subject."
The minister also emphasized the importance of developing the concept of Eurasian security "on various international platforms."
Sergei Lavrov met with CSTO parliamentarians in Moscow on February 7, and noted the efficiency of the parliamentary component of the Organization.
